Thank you for making the kids winners.

Thanks to all who helped, the kids are the winners!

The historic rivalry between Los Angeles and Boston basketball fans spun off the court and into the stands this year. The Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Los Angeles and Boston held a text to give and online giving challenge to extend the fan experience during the NBA playoffs. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and iconic Los Angeles “Showtime” Lakers Magic Johnson, AC Green, and Michael Cooper attended a pep rally at the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Los Angeles to cheer on the home team. Villaraigosa announced a friendly challenge toward Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and Boston fans to see who can raise the most “smiles and support” for local Boys & Girls Clubs.

One West BankOneWest Foundation, the public benefit corporation established by OneWest Bank FSB, joined “Team Los Angeles,” the Boys & Girls Clubs of LA county, as a matching sponsor for the Be Great Fan Challenge in June 2010. OneWest Foundation contributed $100,000 by matching $1 for every $2 raised during the friendly competition with Boston Boys & Girls Clubs. OneWest Bank employees also participated in the challenge, putting momentum behind the Los Angeles County Clubs with an individual giving campaign as well.

Thanks to OneWest Foundation and OneWest Bank employees the Challenge was a success, raising over $300,000 for the Clubs! GO LA!

You may still show your support for the Boys & Girls Clubs by making a donation to the LA Alliance and show everyone L.A. fans have the most heart.
